Our Veterans Court program is a key initiative in this regard. As your District Attorney, I am committed to expanding access to this program, ensuring that more of our veterans receive the tailored support and rehabilitation services they need.

However, our commitment to our veterans does not mean compromising on public safety or justice. The Veterans Court program will be used judiciously, intended for those cases where it can truly make a positive difference — not as a blanket excuse for serious, violent offenses. We will carefully evaluate each case, ensuring that this program serves those veterans who can most benefit from its rehabilitative approach while upholding the highest standards of justice and safety for Bell County.

With a rich legal background that includes serving as a prosecutor in both Bell and Coryell Counties, along with years as a defense attorney, Jeff offers a comprehensive understanding of the justice system. His Board Certification in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 2008 is a testament to his expertise. Jeff is poised to bring his extensive experience to the role of District Attorney, serving as a staunch advocate for the people of Bell County.

Jeff is wholly committed to protecting the Second Amendment rights of all law-abiding citizens, while also a strong advocate for responsible gun ownership and enforcement of existing gun laws to keep firearms out of the hands of criminals.

Recognizing that illegal immigration has repercussions beyond the border, Jeff is committed to safeguarding Bell County from the consequences of unchecked human and drug trafficking. He pledges to take a proactive stance against criminal activities perpetrated by undocumented immigrants, ensuring rigorous prosecution and detention until legal processes are concluded.

Jeff is committed to enhancing the support systems for victims of crime, ensuring they receive the necessary resources and assistance throughout the legal process. This includes expanding access to victim services, counseling, and legal support.

Jeff will address head-on the growing threat of cybercrime by enhancing the District Attorney’s technological capabilities. This includes training specialized units to tackle crimes like identity theft, online fraud, and cyberbullying. Jeff is a 2019 graduate of the United States Department of Homeland Security’s National Computer Forensic Institute.

Jeff will be a strong advocate for a balanced approach to dealing with drug-related offenses, combining strict enforcement with heavy punishments for drug dealers who destroy the lives of some of our citizens, with support for user rehabilitation programs. He will simultaneously promote collaboration with mental health professionals to address the underlying issues of substance abuse and mental illness in the criminal justice system.

Jeff will take a strong stance against domestic violence by ensuring swift and severe prosecution of offenders, while also providing robust support services for victims. Jeff understands and will work to protect individuals’ Constitutional rights while still protecting the public.

As District Attorney, Jeff will prioritize dismantling human trafficking networks, relentlessly prosecuting offenders, and providing extensive support and protection for victims. His approach will combine advanced investigative efforts and strong legal action with a focus on victim rehabilitation and community education. Through partnerships with law enforcement at all levels, Jeff will work tirelessly to eradicate this heinous crime from our community.
